Hey gang! Today I heard about a network marketing company that went out of business. I found the news distressing, but what was even worse was all the chatter around the internet actually celebrating the company’s demise. People were actually happy that others in our profession had lost their company, their investment and, in some cases most likely, their hopes for a better life. I ask you, is this something to be happy about?
NO. Network marketers are not in competition with one another. Our only competition is ourselves and our dedication to our profession. To see others fail is a failure for us all. We are not here just to build up our own organizations, but to foster better public recognition and appreciation for network marketing as a whole. That’s how we all succeed. And believe you me, there’s plenty of room at the proverbial “top” for us all.
In a recent post I said that when we saw someone else in our organization or even in another having problems, that we should reach out and try to build them up, share our experiences and ideas for their success. Be that pep squad that we all need now and again. It helps that person more than you know and it helps yourself. If you believe in positive energy then delighting in the failures of others, or Schadenfreude as they say in Germany, goes directly against that positive energy and will certainly bring you and your organization down.
I may use the phrase “Give someone an AWESOME day” a lot, but that’s because I know how really important it is. You give someone an AWESOME day and voila! You get one in return. What a rush! But if you gloat about the misfortunes of others, and in this case all the good folks who will now have to start looking for new opportunities, then voila once again. You get knocked down a rung or two on the ladder of success.
So what do you say we put away all the gossip and negativity about other companies and concentrate on making our own the very best they can be?
Am I preaching? I don’t think so. Lessons like this are as important a part of network marketing training as any other. Even more so if you transfer them into your daily like outside our profession.
So friends, even though it might take a bit of effort, go out there and give someone a truly AWESOME day. There’s someone who really needs it, and it just might be you!

Hey gang! For those of us who live in the southwest, a trip to the east coast can be quite a surprise the moment you step off the plane. You walk into that jet way and BAM, it hits you. That danged humidity. Whether you like the moisture or not, you can’t ignore the difference in the way the air feels. You can almost taste it.

That’s what I’m experiencing these days about the network marketing profession. I mean WOW! Everywhere I turn people are joining us in helping others and at the same time helping themselves to a better life. The opportunities have never been greater and the profession never more exciting.
Do you feel it? I hope so. But if you don’t, there’s probably a good reason. Perhaps Webster explains your problem best by defining it as: “An agreement or pledge to do something in the future; especially: an engagement to assume a financial obligation at a future date b: something pledged c: the state or an instance of being obligated or emotionally impelled.” Ah yes, COMMITMENT.
As some of you know, I was recently asked to participate in a great, great, great, great weekend in Seattle at Todd Falcone’s Network Marketing Mastery seminar. I came away from that event so charged up that I was throwing sparks! The days were filled with such incredible content. But one of the most important things I took home with me was the need for us all to totally commit to our businesses. If you really want to make it, you have to get in the game! Purchasing a distributor kit, listening in on conference calls, participating in webinars — all good stuff. However, all that information is useless unless you do something with it.
I met a great guy up in Seattle who told me he was a network marketing junkie. He was on all the conference calls and went to all the events where he got himself super-charged up to hit the road running. But when his feet hit that proverbial road…he was immediately back to a snail’s pace. I asked if these events he attended did him any good and he said, “Yes. I make a call or two afterwards, but then it slacks off. I just wait for the next event and hope for the best.”
Friends, it really breaks my heart to see folks like my friend who really want to do well, but just don’t have the commitment to make their goals come true. Perhaps there’s something we can all do to help. First of all, you have to keep yourself energized. Yes, get on those calls, watch those webinars and most importantly, attend those events! They are our lifeblood and will give you just the boost you might need.
But then, don’t be afraid to reach out to others in your organization who might not be as motivated as you. Encourage them, share what you’ve learned with them, be their personal pep squad! Upline or downline, it doesn’t matter. “What?” you say. “Help the competition?” Competition? Let’s get this straight right now. When one of us wins, we all win. And when one of us fails, it affects the entire profession.
Be generous with your time and encouragement. Don’t be afraid to give away the “secrets” you’ve learned. Take the high road and you’ll be amazed at how wonderful it feels to see so many following behind you.
Now go out there and give someone — especially that someone who may need it most — an AWESOME day!
Hey Gang~~ This is another really easy thing to do. It will only take you a few minutes to complete and can mean the difference whether or not someone sticks in your organization. When I shot this I had created checks for no less than 5 people who were really close. I LOVE getting your comments and thoughts, so let me have em! If you like my videos, why not subscribe to my channel? Just hit the YouTube logo to your upper right side. I hope this tip helps you.
Have an amazing day and now go give someone else an AWESOME day!!
Hey Gang!
You know, building a business in network marketing really boils down to one thing. Being a leader. I’ve known so many hard core
sales people who get into our profession and hit the road running, signing up prospect after prospect and making a few bucks along the way. But that’s all they do. Once that new person has their start up kit and product, they are left hanging out there on their own. That’s why I prefer the term “relationship marketing.” Your job as a team leader really begins after you bring someone into your organization.
I’ve always found great value in learning from the real leaders of our industry. Heck, just being around them gives me a charge of enthusiasm for our profession that’s hard to get from a book or tape. And actually watching how they work is even more fascinating.
One of the top leaders in our field and one of my mentors and dear friends, John DeHart, puts it best when he simply says, “Monkey See, Monkey Do.” He’s right, you know. You can lecture, coach and write books and blogs all you want. But it’s what you DO that your team sees and copies. You want your team to commit to making at least five calls a day? Then you’d better be making at least five yourself. Think they won’t know if you do or don’t? Think again, my friend. They know. They always know.
People look for leaders that can help them achieve what the leader has already achieved. If someone new to your business is looking to make, say, a couple of hundred bucks a month and that’s what you’re making, well, congratulations. However, if that new eager person is looking to quit their job and bring in a healthy six-figure income and you’re still at a couple of hundred a month…see the problem? Now, don’t think you have to one-up everyone in your organization. There are those blessed times when someone you brought in turns out to be a dynamo and leaps to the top of their game. But you do have to be in the running, out there doing the relationship building and setting a good example of how others can make their dreams come true.
I personally never give you advice that I haven’t already tried and found effective. As the head monkey in my own organization, it’s my duty and my privilege. You should think of yourself the same way. Would you want to be your sponsor? Would you follow your leadership? Would you get excited just to have a conversation with you?
If not, then it’s time for some changes.
Now go out there and give someone an AWESOME day!
